As part of a basement extension project for a large residential property in Knockholt near Sevenoaks, Diamond Edge Drilling Ltd was engaged to carefully remove a redundant section of heavily reinforced concrete wall located beneath the existing house structure. The wall to be removed measured 350mm in thickness, 3 metres in height, and 10 metres in length, including a door and corner section.

This wall was situated in close proximity to a recently refurbished swimming pool and directly beneath finished and occupied areas of the house. It was crucial to avoid any damage, preserve the existing structure and internal finishes, and minimize disruption to the occupants. Consequently, the use of vibration and noise-producing breakers was immediately ruled out.

To remove the wall quietly, without vibration, and with precision, we employed diamond drilling and diamond track sawing methods. The wall was cut into suitably sized sections and lifted out using on-site machinery. Diamond stitch drilling was utilized at the corners and along the cut lines to prevent over-cutting into the remaining structure. Lifting holes were diamond drilled in strategic positions to facilitate the insertion of straps. Track sawing was then used to create the perimeter cuts and divide the wall into manageable sections.

These sections were easily lifted out of the work area, stockpiled, and subsequently removed from the site by grab lorries. The project was completed efficiently and with minimal disturbance. Both our client and the homeowner expressed high satisfaction with the quality of the work and the overall efficiency of the project.

This detailed account highlights Diamond Edge Drilling Ltd’s expertise in handling complex projects with precision and care.
