We were called in by the client to form sixteen precise openings through the 450mm thick heavily reinforced basement walls for new windows and doors. This was to allow conversion of the basement area into residential units. The openings were cut into sections and lifted out for removal to eliminate breaking work and to reduce noise levels due to the rest of the building being occupied by tenants.

Firstly, holes were diamond stitch drilled at end of cut lines and in corners of the opening. This was to eliminate any over-cutting into the retained structures whilst track sawing. Holes to accept lifting chains were diamond drilled where required. We precisely cut the perimeter of the openings using one of our Hilti track saw systems. Upon completion of cutting, the redundant sections were easily lifted out using the site excavator. This was an efficient method of forming the openings and reduced disturbance of the tenants to a minimum.
