We use several different techniques and machines depending on the desired finish, including floor planing, scabbling, shot blasting and diamond grinding.
Common applications include removing high spots in floors, reducing slab levels, removal of laitance from old or new slabs, texturing floors to provide a non-slip surface and removal of old coatings, adhesives and paints. We use a range of machines, from handheld grinders and scabblers for edging and detail work, to 3-phase self-propelled planers and diesel-powered cold milling machines for the fast reduction of the material. Effective dust control is achieved at all times with the use of powerful dust vacuums or water suppression, allowing us to complete carry out the works with minimal impact on surrounding areas. We are most often required to provide these services in industrial units, car parks, retail units and supermarkets.
Diamond grinders use rotating diamond discs to smooth and level concrete surfaces; ideal for levelling, correcting rough textures and preparing floor slabs prior to application of protective sealants or paints. Floor planers and scabblers use tungsten tipped flails spinning at high speed to remove material much more aggressively than grinding or shot blasting. Floor planers are ideal for removing very stubborn floor coatings, roughening surfaces or when reduction of slab levels is required. Shot blasting uses a centrifugal wheel to shoot steel balls “shot” at the surface and is an option for stripping or cleaning surfaces efficiently.
