Hydraulic Crunching & Bursting
Diamond Edge Drilling Ltd specialises in hydraulic crunching and bursting techniques, known as quiet demolition, offering efficient and low-impact demolition solutions for masonry and concrete structures in noise-sensitive environments. Our expertise in these methods ensures minimal noise, vibration, and disturbance, making them ideal for projects requiring quiet and precise demolition.
Hydraulic Crunching
Hydraulic crunching is particularly effective for demolishing in-situ structures such as walls, floor slabs, and staircases. This technique generates minimal noise and vibration, making it suitable for sensitive environments. The process involves placing two hydraulically powered jaws on either side of the structure. As the jaws close, the material between them is crushed into rubble. This process is repeated until the entire structure is systematically demolished. Hydraulic crunchers can be operated manually or mounted on robotic demolition machines, providing flexibility and precision.
Hydraulic Bursting
Hydraulic bursting is ideal for demolishing large sections of concrete. This method involves diamond drilling a series of holes at predetermined positions in the structure. Hydraulic burster heads are then inserted into these holes and expanded, creating a splitting force of up to 250 tonnes per burster head. This force cracks the concrete, making it ready for removal. For large-scale projects, multiple burster heads can be used simultaneously, generating combined splitting forces exceeding 1000 tonnes. Like hydraulic crunching, this technique produces very little noise, vibration, or dust, making it suitable for projects with strict environmental constraints.
